If a child should have an accident during break-times they will be taken to the first aid post in the playground and assessed for treatment (if necessary). All accidents are then reported to the Head teacher and recorded in the school accident book.
On a rare occasion it may be necessary for a parent to be called to personally assess the situation or collect the child (for example, if the child has bumped heads with another and is complaining of a headache or has a visible bump).
Each class teacher also maintains a basic first aid kit in their classroom so that the minor injuries can be dealt with in the classroom wherever possible. We also have designated staff members who are first aid trained and who can be consulted at any time.
The London Borough of Hackney Learning Trust also provides an ad-hoc school nurse who will visit the school each week.
At Northwold we teach children to develop respect and understanding for people’s opinions, views and beliefs. We work closely with the children to develop a clear understanding of what is right and wrong and create a welcoming, safe and caring environment where the welfare of our children is paramount.
To avoid any issues/incidents we ask that parents encourage their child to:
- Tell a teacher. Every incident will be investigated!
- Not keep it a secret and not to feel ashamed
- Understand that it is not only violence that is bullying. Hurtful whispering or ostracising is also very upsetting.
If parents have concerns that their child may be experiencing some form of bullying please speak to us directly so we can work together to resolve the issues they may be facing.
